Out On The Water
Swanage and Studland Beach are two particularly great spots to kayak, swim and sail. Swanage can be a busy little stretch of beach, accommodating kayaks and jet skis as well as large sailing yachts in its waters. For a small charge it’s possible to hire kayaks and pedal boats directly from the main beach. You can even hire jet skis if you prefer something with a little more speed. A company such as Ocean Bay Watersports, situated on North Beach offer pedalo, canoe and kayak hire. They also offer sun loungers, wind breakers, deck chairs and parasol hire.
You can bring your own boat to Swanage and launch it from the slipway next to the lifeboat station. Sign posts can been seen at the end of Perveril Point Road. There is also at a small slipway by Playland, an arcade in the town centre.
Head over to Swanage Pier where you’ll find Swanage Sailing Club, if you fancy trying your hand at sailing. The club has gained a fantastic reputation over the years. They frequently arrange various sailing events and regattas throughout the year too.
Under The Water
Scuba diving is another popular water sports in Swanage. Swanage pier is a popular dive site for new and qualified divers. It is one of the few sheltered sea diving sites on the south coast. Thousands come to Swanage Pier to scuba dive under the wooden pier framework. Alternatively, sign up for a dive at one of the wrecks lying in deeper water outside the bay.
