Swanage Seafront Masterplan
The Swanage seafront masterplan intends to offer a vision to guide the management of the coastline in the future.
We are looking for opinions and suggestions to help with the creation of the masterplan. By responding to the survey, submitting your thoughts to our “Seafront Ideas Board,” and participating in one of the community engagement activities we are organising, you can contribute to the process.
Join us for a free public event from 6 to 9 p.m. on November 17 at the Mowlem Theatre.
Discuss your ideas for the seaside with James and Sara from the Dorset Coast Forum team. Additionally, we are organising a photography exhibit that will examine the seafront. All are welcome.
The masterplan is a long-term working strategy that will provide a vision to inform the future management of the seafront. The seafront masterplan will cover an area from Swanage Pier to the stream at Ocean Bay and it includes the green spaces, seafront areas and the beach.

I am totally against this plan. The closure of a small part of the seafront during the summer months is acceptable but to consider closing the whole of the seafront on a permanent basis is unacceptable.
There are many people who live locally, who enjoy their seafront and are only able to access it by car due to various health and mobility issues. They must not be discriminated against for the sake of the powers that be who think that Swanage is only there for holiday makers.
Whilst businesses benefit from the months from April to September, with the holiday makers, the rest of the year the local residents are able to enjoy Swanage and it’s beautiful seafront.
Hi Wendy, thank you for your comment. I would suggest that you go to their website to raise your concerns there as we have no say on the matter.
You need more benches in green space and seafront. Also the bottom of Albert gardens always look left out needs new planting and benches.
